A Growing Family and a New Beginning

When I started my law firm, life was already full. My wife and I had three young children, five years old, three years old, and a newborn. It was a busy season.

Building a firm from the ground up while raising a young family required balance. I was working long hours, hiring employees, speaking with clients, and laying the foundation for what would become Johnson Attorneys Group. At the same time, I was learning how to be present at home.

In fact, my first office was inside my house. Every once in a while, one of the kids would sneak in and climb onto my lap while I was working. Those memories still mean a great deal to me. From the very beginning, family and work were never separate values. They were connected.

The Problem I Saw with Insurance Companies

Early in my career, I saw something that deeply concerned me. Insurance companies would move quickly after someone was injured. In some cases, they would approach people who were catastrophically hurt and offer them a small amount of money to sign away their rights.

When clients later called my office, I would learn they had already accepted a settlement for a fraction of what they needed. Sometimes it was as little as a thousand dollars. For families facing serious medical issues, that is devastating.

That became a catalyst for me. Insurance companies have created a system. For them, it is a numbers game. For my clients, it is real life. From the inception of this firm, my focus has been to help people navigate the mess that can follow an injury and to stand up to unfair tactics.

From Athletics to the Courtroom

Before law, I was an athlete. I ran competitively, and I loved it. When I stood at the starting line, my goal was simple. I wanted to win.

That competitive mindset did not disappear when I became an attorney. It evolved. Today, the competition is not about medals. It is about protecting my clients from being taken advantage of.

Anyone who has run or biked with me knows that if I see someone ahead, I will push harder to pass them. That same mindset applies in my practice. I look at obstacles. I look at the opposition. And I prepare to overcome them.

The Science Behind Personal Injury Cases

In college, I studied chemistry. It may surprise some people, but that scientific background became incredibly valuable in personal injury law.

Many serious injuries involve complex medical issues. Understanding how the body works, how trauma affects tissue and bone, and what treatments are appropriate helps me better represent my clients.

When I worked for a plaintiff personal injury lawyer after my athletic eligibility ended, I realized I could combine athletics, science, and advocacy into one meaningful career.

Treating Clients Like Family

One principle has never changed. I treat my clients the way I would treat my own family.

Some clients come to us overwhelmed. Some are frustrated. Some are scared. And some may be a little rough around the edges. That is okay. People who are injured are not at their best. They are dealing with pain, financial pressure, and uncertainty.

A little patience and care go a long way. When people feel heard and supported, it changes everything.

A Proactive and Competitive Approach

Personal injury law is not passive. You cannot throw a file in a corner and let it collect dust.

Insurance companies are actively working to minimize what they pay. That means we must be proactive. We gather evidence. We evaluate medical care. We prepare every case as if it may need to go the distance.

It is a competition. The opponent is the insurance company or anyone else standing in the way of a fair outcome. Our job is to put forward the strongest case possible and pursue the best result available under the law.

Bringing Hope to People Who Feel Lost

When clients first call, many feel like they are spiraling. They cannot work. They are in pain. They are unsure what the future looks like.

One of the most important parts of my role is helping them understand the process and what the end result could look like. Clarity brings hope.

We talk through concerns. We address doubts. We create a plan. And step by step, we move forward together.
